Chile Orders U.S. Energy Firm AES Gener Power Plant to Cut Air Pollution

U.S. energy firm AES Gener must cut air pollutants from its Guacolda coal-fired power plant in northern Chile under a government plan to reduce levels of breathable particulate material in the northern port of Huasco. The decontamination plan, approved by the Ministerial Committee for Sustainability Nov. 17, aims to cut emissions of particulate matter in the port city by around 1,600 tons annually.
