Canada to Spend 'Unprecedented' $35 Billion More on Green Projects: Finance Minister

Canada will spend C$47.2 billion ($35.3 billion) more on green infrastructure during the next 11 fiscal years and is setting up a new bank to fund major projects, the government's finance minister said Nov. 1. The additional funding, which starts April 1, 2017, will support reducing greenhouse gas emissions through expanded public transit, generating less electricity from coal and using more renewable energy, Finance Minister Bill Morneau said in Canada's annual fall economic statement.
