Amazon Dam Group Donate Carbon Credits To Offset Olympics Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Members of the Energia Sustentavel do Brasil (ESBR) consortium donated 70,000 carbon credits to offset some of the greenhouses gases emitted during the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a spokeswoman told Bloomberg BNA Aug. 23. ESBR members who donated certified emissions reductions are the French energy company Engie (formerly GDF Suez), Japanese trader Mitsui & Co., and three Brazilian federal power companies. The ESBR consortium built and runs the 3,750 megawatt Jirau Dam in the western Amazon.
