Clean Energy Ministerial Aims for Global Adoption of International Energy Management

A coalition of governments, businesses and other organizations has launched a campaign to encourage broad implementation of the International Organization for Standardization's energy management system to demonstrate progress in meeting climate and clean energy goals. The international standard, ISO 50001, is a transparent mechanism to help ensure that greenhouse gas emissions reduction commitments in the global climate change deal reached in Paris in 2015 are met, high-level energy and environmental officials said June 2 at the seventh Clean Energy Ministerial meeting in San Francisco. One of several new initiatives announced at the CEM7 meeting, the Energy Management Campaign, aims to have 50,001 certifications to ISO 50001 by 2020.
