The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Health Organization have released an International Code of Conduct on Pesticide Management and a special pesticide toolkit aimed at reducing environmental and health risks from chemicals used in agriculture. Issued May 10, the 28-page document focuses on a relatively small group of toxic pesticides still in use, mostly in developing countries, where farmers may be unaware of the risks or may lack the training and equipment to use them safely.
