摘要

Reduced water availability in sub-Saharan Africa is expected to intensify competition for agriculture and energy production in the years ahead, according to the United Nations World Water Development Report 2016. The report identifies climate change as the main culprit that will increase water stress, potentially harming ecosystem maintenance and affecting human settlements. "Already, Sub-Saharan Africa faces water-related challenges that constrain economic growth and threaten the livelihoods of its people," according to the report, prepared in part by UNESCO.
