Ontario Proposes Pollinator-Protection Action Plan After Cutting Neonicotinoid Use

Ontario has published a draft action plan to reduce losses of honeybees and other pollinators, including losses due to neonicotinoid pesticides. Last July, Ontario became one of the first major jurisdictions in North America to place limits on the use of neonicotinoids, a move to cut the acreage of neonicotinoid-treated corn and soybean seeds in Ontario by 80 percent by 2017 (38 INER 398, 4/8/15).
