摘要

An energy alliance has begun to take shape in the Eastern Mediterranean with the signing of a trilateral agreement between Israel, Cyprus and Greece. But industry observers are already doubting its efficacy. Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras announced in the Cyprus capital of Nicosia Jan. 28 that they had reached a broad agreement that would first examine the possibility of laying a natural gas pipeline from Israel to Europe via Cyprus and Greece. Next, they said, would come a plan to lay an underwater cable to connect the electricity grids of the three countries.
