Vestas Enters Energy Storage in Expansion Beyond Wind Turbines

Vestas Wind Systems A/S, which has made more wind turbines than any other company, said it's expanding into the energy storage business to better serve customers who want to make electricity flows more predictable. The Danish manufacturer has a target to expand its service business by 50 percent by 2020 from last year's level by providing wind turbines along with storage and integrating the projects into electric grids, Chief Executive Officer Anders Runevad said at the company's annual meeting in Copenhagen April 6.
