Hong Kong Moves to Phase Out Ivory Trade, Enhance Biodiversity

Hong Kong will implement its first-ever biodiversity strategy action plan and move forward on a proposed plan to phase out trade in ivory within the Special Administrative Region by 2021. The phaseout is meant to fully eliminate the trade in five years in an effort to satisfy both environmentalists and traders in what is considered the world's biggest ivory market.
