Some local Chinese officials are ordering workers to spray water around air pollution monitors in an effort to to obscure readings, environmental authorities warned. Four cases uncovered over several days by China's environmental authorities show that local governments worried about not meeting their air pollution reduction targets are resorting to creative tactics to tamper with data.
