THE FUTURE OF OIL AND GAS IN LYBIA

Following the destruction of the Gaddafi regime in 2011, Libya has consistently outperformed the expectations of the oil and gas industry. Oil production has already reverted to pre-war levels and gas production is set to surpass pre-conflict levels in 2013. Recent statistics show that Libya has proven reserves of approximately 46.4 billion barrels of oil and 54.7 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. Experts claim that approximately 60-70 per cent of Libya remains unexplored and could contain an abundance of hydrocarbon resources, for those willing to invest.
