The European Union and Russia Energy Trade-Thickening of Legality and Solidarity?

Having explored the evolution of the current state of energy trade and relations between the European Union and Russia it is possible to conclude that the attempts by the European Union to secure its energy supplies have been twofold First, the European Union has taken internal steps and reformed both its institutional framework and competences of its agents (e.g. the Commission and High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security) in the realm of international energy trade and security. In tandem with these changes the principle of solidarity has been acknowledged both in the Treaty and secondary legislation so as to enhance the political and economic power of the European Union.
