Electricity Market Reform

It remains to be seen whether the EMR proposals will be adopted consistently across the United Kingdom or whether certain aspects of the reform will be set aside as reserved or devolved matters. The Government says that it is working with a steering group involving experts from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland in order to ensure a uniform reform. Until the reform proposals have been finalised, however, it is difficult to speculate how consistently the EMR will be implemented across the United Kingdom.
