The Radioactivity of the Hydraulic Fracturing (Fracking) of Shale Gas (Pt Ⅱ)-an International and European Legal Perspective

This paper constitutes the second of a two-part series on the Radioactivity of the Hydraulic Fracturing (Fracking) of Shale Gas. Part I addressed the radioactivity associated with the fracking of shale gas-i.e. release of radionuclides of Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM) into the air, water and soil (atmospheric, aquatic and terrestrial media) as the result of fracking operations-with the aim of informing policy formulation and the development of legislative and regulatory frameworks at international, European, and national (domestic) levels.
