Roll-to-Roll Vacuum Plasma Treatment of Industria Textiles and Nonwovens

For several years now, low-pressure vacuum plasma treatment has found its way to industry. The technology is primarily used for the surface treatment of industrial textiles and nonwovens. The plasma treatment leads to products. with enhanced properties, to production-cost savings or even to unique materials. Application areas are filtration, rechargeable batteries, airbags, transportation textiles, blood bags, medical bandages, etc. Rugged, reliable and large-capacity roll-to-roll production equipment is used for this treatment. In this article, an overview is presented of the main uses of a low-pressure vacuum plasma, some industrial applications are discussed more in detail and, finally, the equipment that is used for effecting plasma treatments is presented in detail.
