Natural Dyeing of Silk and Cotton by Rhododendron Flower Extract

In the present paper, we wish to report the conventional dyeing properties of cotton and silk fabrics with the aqueous extract of Rhododendron flowers (red variety) by using metal mordants FeSO_4, SnCl_2. CuSO_4, SnCl_4, K_2Cr_2O_7 and alum. CIELab values. K/S values and fastness properties of the dyed fabrics were ascertained. The dye showed promising results and acceptability for commercial dyeing.
