Eco-Friendly Dyeing of Silk with Natural Dye Extracted from Plumbago zeylanica (Chitrak) Roots Using Natural Mordants

摘要

It can be stated that Chitrak root can be profitably used to dye silk fabric in soft and subdued shades. Silk can be successfully dyed with Chitrak root dye using different natural mordants and method of mordanting to obtain a range of shades that are reasonably fast. This study opens the way for ecofriendly dyeing of silk. It can be exploited commercially to create an era of green clothing.
