摘要

A planar and linear molecular structure is an essential property in a colouring dye molecule for textile substrates, but dye molecules - which are made of aliphatic and aromatic long-chain hydrocarbons -also behave as surfactant molecules and reduce the surface tension of water when dissolved in water in course of dyeing. Those textile dyes that reduce the surface tension of water drastically have lesser exhaustion in dyeing. However dyes that reduce the surface tension of water, when dissolved, to a lesser extent show better exhaustion in dyeing of textile material.
