Diqital boosts Eqypt's export market

Digital textile printing is a niche sector in Egypt but is expected to grow as demand for sports and active wear increases within its clothing sector, bolstered by government-supported initiatives to treble garment and textile exports by 2025. Egypt has a long history of garment and textile manufacturing, but the sector's strength has been in 'cut and sew' due to the country's low labour costs, at between US$60 and US$100 a month. Printing has been primarily rotary-based, with finishing focused on the domestic market and generally not for export purposes. But over the past decade, a handful of Egyptian companies have invested in digital printing machinery to cater to local commissions from garment and textile manufacturers, as well as export.
