France's Pel-Job has celebrated its first year under the ownership of Volvo Construction Equipment with the launch of a range of new mini-excavators. The company forms part of Volvo's new Compact and Service Equipment division, along with Zettel-meyer wheel loaders and Mecalac midi-excavators, to provide a range from 1t to 13t According to Pel-Job's Henri Marchetta, the market for this sector, encompassing minis, skid steers, telehandlers, compact loaders and site dumpers, is worth $10bil., one third of the equipment market by value. Western Europe accounts for 31% of this market, with North America 32% and Japan 29%. By sector the market is led by the excavators (breaking down into 22% for minis and 13% for midis) with backhoes providing around 29%.
