The Stade de France, at a cost of $467mil., will be not only the largest stadium in France but also the biggest adaptable Olympic stadium in the world. It will enable the country to host some of the world's major sporting events - one of the first on the schedule being the soccer World Cup in 1998. The 80,000-seater stadium in the town of St-Denis will be the first national stadium to be built in France for 70 years.
