Construction output across the 27-country European Union was down -1.1%. in February compared to the same point last year. The highest year-on-year increases were in France (8.7%), Bulgaria (7.8%), Hungary (7.1%) and Germany (6.2%), while the biggest decreases were seen in Portugal (-20.9%), Poland (-13.1%), Slovenia (-11.3%) and the Netherlands (-7.8%). Building construction output dropped -0.8% year-on-year and civil engineering fell -1.4%. The African Development Bank has approved a € 115 million (US$ 151 million) loan to support development of a 300 MW wind power project in Kenya's Lake Turkana region - the largest wind power project in Africa. The government of Kenya will construct a 428 km transmission line connecting the Lake Turkana Wind Power project to the national grid.
