2. THE SPECIFICATION AND QUALITY CONTROL PROCESS

Specifications contain three elements that are required to achieve the desired product. 1. The technical specification contains a description of the end product, its constituents and manufacturing process. With the drawings of the works, this is the principal output of the analysis and design phase. 2. The quality control part of the specification describes what to measure and what to inspect, how these activities are to be executed, results evaluated and what action shall be taken. This includes reference to codes and standards that apply and submittals that are required for review and approval. This part of the specification is derived from experience of construction and knowledge of good practice.
