Global fertiliser demand and overall trade in fertiliser raw and manufactured products has increased year on year over the last four years, between 1993-1997. Prospects are that there will be further increase in fertiliser trades, albeit slowing down on recent growth, during the whole of calendar 1998. Such recent growth had followed five successive years of ever deepening recession in the industry world-wide, when consumption and trade dropped on average by respectively 4.2% and 3.1% annually between 1988-1993.
