This award is split into two distinct categories; Marine and Cargo Handling. It is open to organisations demonstrating how recently introduced technical innovation is currently reaping benefits. Hempel, Denmark OMC International, Australia PSM Instrumentation, United Kingdom Intensive research and development by chemists at Hempel in Copenhagen has resulted in a coating, tailor-made for the protection of cargo holds. Judges noted that in one year more than 1 million square meters in cargo holds on-board bulk carriers have been coated, resulting in extended repair intervals.
