KONECRANES RESTRUCTURES TO MEET SLOWER MARKET

In July 2009 Konecranes cut 41 jobs in its heavy lifting business segment, which includes grab unloaders, electric overhead travelling cranes for process industries, shipyard and shipboard gantry cranes, STS cranes, RTGs, RMGs and other port handling equipment.rnFurther temporary layoffs were made and an additional 25 personnel were due to retire. The news followed the completion of similar negotiations at Konecranes Service Corporation, which resulted in 10 permanent staff layoffs. Konecranes said it started negotiations at its three business areas in order to "adjust the company's cost structure and capacity to match the weaker market and secure future competitiveness".
