Changing faces

Humans constantly receive information about the world, our environment, possible dangers and opportunities. The rate of data input to the brain is huge (about 1 Gigabyte per second through sight alone. We interpret and process the images we perceive and act based on that information. In contrast, our rate of data output into computer systems is negligible (a reasonably fast typist may be able to input data at about 100 bit/s. If computers are to ever understand their environment they really need the power of sight. If computers could see and understand images as we do, the consequences would be enormous...not least in the world of visual entertainment.
