After Big Cat Diary, the first series of which began in 1996, and the success of Springwatch earlier this year, the BBC's Bristol-based Natural History Unit embarked upon its most ambitious live project yet in September when it took some 20 tonnes of equipment to Kenya's Masai Mara reserve to set up Big Cat Live. This multi-platform extravaganza aimed to explore the daily adventures and nocturnal habits of the reserve's wildlife, which includes lions, cheetahs and leopards as well as buffalo, elephants and wildebeest.
