Today, consumers' hunger for live television - and especially sports - is seemingly insatiable, and summer 2012 offers a feast of live sporting action. In June the UEFA Euro 2012 football championships hosted in Poland and the Ukraine may sate viewers' appetites, but in many ways this will just be the appetiser for the year's main event: the Summer Games in London. Broadcasters worldwide have been gearing up their live production resources - and especially their outside broadcast resources - in preparation for an unprecedented demand for TV coverage from these events.
