摘要

In this section, five papers discuss the collectors' networks on which relies the production of journals, i.e. the network of collaborators, which helps journalists collecting information to be published. There were various kinds of networks, pre-existent or not, individual or collective, political, confessional, local, national, and international. Pre-existent and personal networks linked with the Huguenot diaspora emerge, in particular, in the case analysed by Hans Bots that focuses on the correspondence of Jacques Bernard at the basis of the Dutch periodical Nou-velles de la Republique des Lettres. A similar case can be found in the group around Etienne Chauvin, author of the Nouveau journal des savants studied by Christiane Berkvens-Stevelinck, that describes not only the Huguenot network but also its relationship with teachers at the College francais and German scientists in Berlin. Jens Haeseler's study on the relationship between periodicals and the Berlin academy tackles the various interactions, from collaboration to competition, between journals and academies, and corresponds to a different situation. It was from this exchange that new periodicals emerged in Prussia. In Fernando Reis' contribution another kind of network is described. In the early 19th century, due to political motives Portuguese emigres to London and Paris published important learned periodicals with the common goal of disseminating knowledge among Portuguese and Brazilian readers and promoting national scientific development. A specialists' network is at the centre of Maarten Bullynck's research on the process that eventually gave birth to mathematical periodicals in the German area, and also on their role in mathematical education and dissemination of scientific culture. It is worth mentioning that the network can be traced through the list of subscribers used by Bullynck.
