Airlines to pay compensation for delay

India's Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel recently informed the Indian Parliament that airlines would soon be required to pay compensation to passengers for either the delay or the cancellation of flights. Giving details, he said that the state owned civil aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is on the job of finalising the Civil Aviation Rule(CAR) to account for delays and cancellation of flights by the Indian carriers. After the enforcement of CAR, stated Patel, "airlines will be required to pay for denied boarding, cancellations and delays of flights.
