Service design for on-demand mobility services: ensure success before launch

Trial and error is an expensive and time-consuming way to learn, and there are many unknowns associated with implementing on-demand mobility services that make them fraught with risk. Shared on-demand services are even more ambiguous as they are relatively new to the transportation industry. Multiple new ventures have already fallen short of expectations for utilisation, impact, transit improvement and public acceptance.
