Cutting the Fuse sees Robert Pape, with co-author James Feldman, return to the study of suicide terrorism. This new book largely follows the logic of Pape's Dying to Win: The Strategic Logic of Suicide Terrorism,1 a largely cited and seminal study on the organizational dimension of suicide bombings. This book provides a more comprehensive, holistic and rigorous examination of the dynamics of a suicide bombing campaign than its predecessor. Despite some methodological and empirical flaws, all researchers and students of suicide terrorism and its causes should read this book.
