Neil Webster's Cribs for Victory: The Untold Story of Bletchley Park's Secret Room

The core of Cribs for Victory (Part 1, pp.17-62) is a memoir by Neil Webster about his wartime work in the 'Central Party' at Bletchley Park. Central Party was tasked with reading the intercept operators' logs to build up a complete picture of the radio communications of the German army and air force, SS, police and railways, mainly to assist the cryptanalysts in Hut 6 (army and air force Enigma) and the intelligence analysts in Hut 3. The log readers also looked for re-encipherments, cribs (probable plain text), and 'giveaways' (cryptographic information in the German operators' plain-language wireless 'chat'). Webster was a senior member of the key Fusion Room in Central Party, which also saw the Hut 6 decrypts and blended them with the results from log reading.
