On 1 June 2014, the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the World Intellectual Property Organization ("WIPO") enacted an amended set of Arbitration Rules (the "WIPO Rules"). WIPO is one of the world's leading arbitration providers, with particular expertise in the area of IP disputes. The WIPO Rules update the arbitration rules of 2002 in light of a number of developments in the practice of international arbitration, including, for example, the widespread acceptance of emergency arbitrators. The amended WIPO Rules also reflect WIPO's practice (for example, on consolidation of arbitrations), which has been shaped by its increasing caseload.
