Based upon the Texaco decision, allowing employees to freely photocopy copyrighted materials is a dangerous practice. Instituting a corporate-wide photocopying policy and actively enforcing the policy can minimize the company's exposure to a copyright infringement claim. In addition, services like the CCC can assist companies in relatively quickly obtaining the permissions that they need to photocopy materials.
