Hong Kong came belatedly but impressively to the real estate investment trust (REIT) party that has been gaining momentum in Asia over the past two years. In the last few weeks of 2005, the Hong Kong government launched its LINK REIT, just ahead of Cheung Kong Holdings' debut issue of private sector property, and the first listing of Chinese real estate for the Guangzhou city government.
