Foreign investors in Thailand have been on tenterhooks for much of the past three years. And with good reason. In 2006, the military staged a coup to remove the notoriously corrupt administration of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Far from resolving the country's problems, however, the intervention only created new sources of tension. A succession of short-lived prime ministers ensued. Now an unwieldy Democrat Party coalition headed up by Abhisit Vejjajiva is attempting to pick up the pieces.
