NDT in the Swedish aerospace industry

The Swedish aerospace industry is competing at the very front line with the leading aerospace industries of the world. It is capable of developing complete military aircraft systems, medium-sized commercial aircraft, and substantial parts of jet engines and space vehicles. The aviation activities have a focal point in and around the city of Linkoeping in the south of Sweden - the old aerodrome, Malmen, is considered the cradle of the Swedish aviation industry since the early 1910s, when test flights and aircraft maintenance for the air force started. Today, the newest fighter, JAS 39 Gripen, is testing its performance limits in the sky above Malmen while old aeroplanes, for example Bleriot, Breguet, Nieuport, and many others, are on display at the nearby aircraft museum.
