A visit to GKN Aerospace, Western Approach

The South Wales Branch travelled to GKN Aerospace, Western Approach, Bristol, for its February meeting, which was a joint visit with the West of England Branch.Having arrived in the car park of the impressively large facility, where composite wing spars for Airbus A350 and A400M aircraft are made, we were met in the reception area by Stuart Ratcliff (on-site Level 3) and Tom Bertenshaw (GKN Aerospace NDT Research Engineer at the National Composites Centre), where we were booked in and had the regulatory safety briefing.
