New high-power pulsed X-ray digital imaging facility installed at UCL

SPS Inspection Systems, the systems department of Shaw Pipeline Services, has developed a cost-effective and high-power pulsed X-ray imaging system for research into sub-millisecond events using real-time radiography. The system is installed in University College London (UCL), Department of Chemical Engineering's X-ray facility. It replaces the university's obsolete, slower system, which failed in 2008. The primary use of the system is for research into the dynamic behaviour of fluidised beds. However, other potential applications for the technology are being investigated in other areas.
