The Defense Department is on the verge of issuing guidance to the combatant commands meant to ensure its humanitarian assistance programs around the world do not interfere with those of other U.S. government agencies, a government official familiar with the effort told Inside the Pentagon.rnThe guidance will make sure DOD programs in a particular country do not "conflict, duplicate or hinder" any of the objectives of the U.S. embassy based there, the government official said in an Aug. 24 interview.
