Defense officials managing the military's highest-security laboratories housing dangerous biological agents should do more to protect their computer networks from unauthorized intrusion, according to a Defense Science Board report released last week.rnPanelists last fall conducted a review of the safety and security policies in place at nine Defense Department labs and three each in the civilian government, academia and the private sector categories. Former defense acquisition chief John Young requested the study in an Oct. 3, 2008, terms-of-reference memo, which was not made public at the time. In the document, Young asked for an interim report within two months.
