摘要

The Defense Department favors a Senate proposal on the use of funds for a key security assistance team in Iraq rather than a House proposal that more narrowly limits the use of those funds. DOD lays out its views on the matter in a Dec. 2 appeals package sent to Congress and obtained by Inside the Pentagon, which details concerns on various issues in the House and Senate versions of the fiscal year 2012 defense authorization bill. The Pentagon writes that it prefers a Senate provision that would authorize $524 million in funding for the Office of Security Cooperation in Iraq (OSC-I) as opposed to a House proposal that authorizes the defense secretary to support the activities of that office but leaves out funding for security assistance teams in Iraq.
