Pentagon Pens S&T Investment Priority Roadmaps For Coming Years

The Pentagon's research and engineering directorate published roadmaps this month for seven science and technology priority investment areas for fiscal years 2013 through 2017, as directed by former Defense Secretary Robert Gates. Gates identified seven priority investment areas in his April 19 memo to the secretaries of the services, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and directors of DOD agencies, directing them to prepare "roadmaps" for those areas: data to decisions; engineered resilient systems; cyber science and technology; electronic warfare and electronic protection; counter weapons of mass destruction; autonomy and human systems.
