The Marine Corps has wrapped up an analysis of alternatives to determine the future of the service's amphibious capability, and is briefing senior service officials and members of Congress, Inside the Navy has learned from various sources. It is uncertain how the Marine Personnel Carrier will fit into the plan, although the Marine Corps will issue a contract award this summer for MPC prototypes to eventually inform a capability development document. The systems demonstration and studies include a water performance evaluation, limited survivability evaluations or blast tests, human factors and stowage capacity study and a study with industry to see how much of the vehicle will be built in the United States.
