DOD Seeks Extension To Buy Goods And Services Along Afghan Route

The Pentagon is asking Congress to extend and expand the department's authority to acquire products and services produced by countries along the Northern Distribution Network, a major route of supply to Afghanistan. The network, a series of transportation paths to Afghanistan that snake through Europe and Central Asia, provides what the Defense Department considers a much-needed alternative to heavily used routes in Pakistan.
