DOD To Open New Support Center For Spare Parts, Commercial Items

The Pentagon is working to launch a new center of excellence within the Defense Contract Management Agency to help contracting officers determine reasonable prices for spare parts and other commercial items, according to Shay Assad, the director of defense pricing. Defense officials have been working on the project for about six months, and aim to launch it next spring, Assad told Inside the Pentagon in a Nov. 21 interview. DCMA will lead the center, but it will also have representatives of the Defense Contract Audit Agency and the support of the Navy's "Price Fighters," he added.
