OMB: Federal Agencies Should Use Shared Services For Financial Systems

The White House Office of Management and Budget wants federal agencies to use shared services to improve financial systems, according to a new memo, which notes that the "highly fragmented nature" of financial management systems across the government has caused data inconsistencies and obscured transparency. A March 25 memo signed by OMB Controller Danny Werfel calls on all executive agencies to use "with limited exceptions, a shared service solution for future modernizations of core accounting or mixed systems."
